Front Desk Receptionist


 

Responsibilities

This position's primary responsibility is to provide outstanding support to the front desk department at our multispecialty ophthalmic practice. This support includes: coordinating and scheduling patients, answering phones, maintaining an efficient and effective structure to improve the practice level of customer service.

Qualifications

The following abilities and skills are required.
Ability to:

  • establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, coworkers, and the public, both on the telephone and in-person
  • handle multiple ongoing tasks
  • write concisely and clearly, with appropriate spelling
  • perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Use standard computer programs such as spreadsheets, word processors, and mail and Internet browsers.
  • Requesting authorization from various insurance plans.
  • Checking patient insurance eligibility
  • Answering phones
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Skilled in:

  • prioritizing assignments to complete work promptly
  • working independently and following through on projects with minimal direction
  • establishing and maintaining alphabetical files
  • speaking, distinctly, and pleasantly on the telephone to communicate with the public, patients, physicians, and scientists
  • Spanish speaker required

Preferred:

  • Understand basic ophthalmic terminology, and be familiar with signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems to answer patient questions and request urgent evaluation when indicated.
  • Ability to type 45 and above words per minute.
  • Knowledge of PDM patient appointment scheduling system (NextGen a plus)
  • Skill in editing correspondence and manuscripts for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
