Ivy Surgical Center is looking for an eager sterile processing technician who is eager to continue expanding their career and skillset, as well as using their experience to help evolve our future team and organization.

About You:

  • You have a strong attention to detail, vigilance and meticulous care on the job
  • You have a passion for patient safety and care- you understand and can prioritize what good bedside manner is

Scope of Work:

  • Collecting used and contaminated instruments, supplies and equipment for sorting and decontamination
  • Manually cleaning supplies of contaminates, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment, under the direction of another sterile processing technician
  • Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization
  • Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment including maintaining records of sterilization procedures
  • Maintaining records of equipment maintenance, under the direction of another sterile processing technician
  • Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures, under the direction of another sterile processing technician
  • Pulling all instruments and supplies for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures and medical carts, under the direction of another sterile processing technician
  • Be knowledgeable of all instruments needed for cases and ensure they are prepared and ready to go
  • Ensure all equipment functions properly prior to the case
  • Post-surgery, once the patient has been moved to the recovery area, assisting in room turnover

Your key performance objectives:

  • Ensure all best methods of sterilization are met
  • Ensure all best practices for patient safety and care are met at all times
  • You lead by example with a strong sense of urgency and help create a professional, fun, and inclusive environment aligned to the needs of anyone at Ivy Surgical Center
  • Be open to feedback and learning from others- you can receive and deliver coaching and direction to and from your peers
  • Can comfortably take and execute feedback from all surgeons, primarily Dr. Barrett (founder and head surgeon of the practice), and management
  • Has a strong sense of urgency and understanding of the importance of a quick and efficient turnover time
  • Successfully maintain or exceed KPIs and scope of work

You have experience in:

  • Outpatient care and/or medical patient experience. 1 year (please come prepared to explain if other)
  • Working on a team and being a part of a team-based environment- leadership and coaching experience is a plus
  • Understanding in sterilization techniques and maintaining sterility
  • Basic computer skills (Mac preferred)

Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing (sometimes can be 8 hours or more)
  • Ability to lift and move supplies and/or patients (sometimes 50 lbs. + with assistance from team members or assistance)
  • Open to weekends if necessary
  • HIPAA certified
  • CST certification, preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
