Position Summary: The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic person for a Health Science and Behavioral Research Associate 2 position.
This position is for an Outreach Coordinator who will lead the community engagement activities in Los Angeles for the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV Interventions.
Lived experience as a person who identifies as LGBTQ+, a consumer of HIV prevention or care services, or a person of color is highly valued.
The Research Associate will:
- Work with existing C2PLA Coalition in leading a research consortium that is focused on research activities occurring throughout Los Angeles County, including protocols implemented through the Adolescent Trials Network
- Coordinate with partners to obtain input for protocol development to ensure that the protocol meets the needs of young adults living in Los Angeles and can be successfully implemented
- Support the implementation of community partner events to build research relationships
- Recruit research participants at events where the target population is present; this will include weekend and evening hours
Required experience includes:
- History of collaborating with other agencies that provide HIV and other services to the LGBTQ+ communities in Los Angeles County
- Experience documenting activities to capture events and progress towards goals
- Demonstrated commitment to equity
Required skills include:
- Ability to lead meetings and describe research and the value of conducting research
- Ability to listen and engage with community partners and young adults
- Ability to create recruitment material (paper, electronic, or social media)
- Ability to utilize databases to track study activities
- Ability to work independently, an internal drive to follow up on study activities to ensure success, and detail oriented
Required knowledge includes:
- Knowledge of agencies and organizations in Los Angeles who provide care or conduct research activities related to HIV
- How to conduct research, human subjects protection, and ethical requirements in research
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. College education in related discipline preferred.
