Job Description
Job Summary: The Banquet House person is responsible for cleaning, clearing and setting up all Banquet spaces according to criteria in a timely manner.
As a banquet house person, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of any banquet rooms, hallways, storage and service areas. You must process inventory and care for banquet supplies such as linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, and decorations.
You are required to set up the banquet room per the specification of a banquet events order, and then reset the room to its original state after the event has concluded. During the event, duties include assisting servers, transporting tables and equipment, reporting maintenance issues to management, and providing requested information to the banquet director, main organizer, or the catering manager in charge of the event.
The banquet house person duties listed below can occur in any dedicated area of the hotel including outlets, patio, pool decks, lobby, and any other location chosen by the client.
Primary Duties:
- Must be flexible towards duties and follow the Director of Banquets, banquet captains, F&B managers, F&B director or upper management instruction’s
- Prepare rooms for special events according instructions and banquet event format
- Places furniture and materials needed in their assigned areas
- After events, clean areas and make sure everything is put back in place
- Understands how to detect customer needs
- Perform duties that require organization, efficiency, lifting, pushing bending and squatting towards the health & safety regulations
- Handles multiple priorities, works under stress and exercises good judgment when dealing with guest situations and complaints
- Active and attentive during pre-shift meetings
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- May work in other areas of the hotel as needed and if required
- Clean, dust furnishings in the banquet area and vacuum carpets
- Clean and maintain common areas within the hotel/Banquets spaces
- Assist the receiving clerk for parcel’s, boxes and deliveries for dedicated events
- Stock count of the linen used and display the linens in the appropriate bag and location
- Assess equipment needs, linen orders and report it to the direct management
- Report any equipment malfunction or maintenance need (i.e. fridges, coolers, toaster or any others)
- Complete the check list with the Banquet director or banquet captain in charge ensuring that duties are completed accordingly
- Participates in refreshing the meeting spaces during breaks.
- Maintain back of the house organized and clean throughout the day
- Emptying trash in banquets areas
- Able to perform server’s duties if required
- Good knowledge of the food waste triage
- Usage and knowledge of the ORCA machine handling food waste coming from the guests and left over after each event
- Participate in training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines. Comply with all safety and security practices, policies, and procedures.
- Carry a radio and remains reachable at all time during shifts (with the exception of meal & 10 min resting breaks)
Qualifications
- Must have minima um of 2 years experience in the hotel industry, restaurant department in luxury hotel
- Strong knowledge of food & beverage offers for the restaurant and any other outlets
- Food handler certification-mandatory
- TIPS training certification- mandatory
- Respect of the Service of alcohol- Californian regulations (if applicable)
- Basic Math skills % calculation
- Effective Communicator in the English Language, Spanish is a plus
- Takes ownership and is responsible for own actions, follows directions given by supervisors
- Enjoys serving guest
- Takes pride in serving others

Additional Information
Pay: $26.27
Schedule: Variable (depending on banqueting events scheduled)
